SAM LECKIE

“I’ve spent most of my career working alongside founders and leaders, close to how their businesses actually run”

I've worked inside huge global organisations, startups, scale-ups, including roles at GE, News Corp, Koala and GROW Inc.

I've had a fairly unusual seat at the table. I've been around while big decisions were being made, watched brilliant leaders at work, worked with some challenging personalities, seen businesses run beautifully and seen what happens when too much sits with too few people.

These days, I help business owners work out what needs to be done, then make it happen.

I bring research, numbers, questions and a point of view. Sometimes I'm there to solve a specific problem or push an important project forward. Sometimes I'm helping figure out what the problem actually is. And sometimes I'm simply the person a business owner calls and says, "Can I run something past you?"

I'm curious about how businesses and people work. I like finding the thing that doesn't quite make sense, asking why we're doing something that way, and finding a simpler or better way forward.

I'm also very much a doer. Once we've worked out what needs to happen, I want to see it happen.

I'm currently completing my MBA at Melbourne Business School, mostly so the theory catches up with the practice.

Outside work, there's usually music playing.I love art, interiors, sneakers, ridiculously long lunches, new technology and disappearing down research rabbit holes. I believe all dogs are basically mine, despite currently not having one of my own.

I'm direct but kind, endlessly curious and not particularly interested in pretending I have all the answers.
